Obiettivi formativi

The teaching will furnish a detailed description of the molecular and cellular components of the gastrointestinal apparatus constituted by the gastrointestinal tract and the associated exocrine glands, the chemiosensors and the nervous system that regulates the functioning of the entire apparatus, including the hipothalamic areas of hunger and satiety. The teaching will also furnish notions of the Physiology of the intestinal microbiota, eubiosis and dybiosis, as well as the description of various pathologies of the gastrointestinal system.

Risultati dell'apprendimento attesi

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
We expect that the students will understand the molecular, cellular and integrated mechanisms that generate and regulate the activity of the GI tract (mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine and colon), the associated glands (salivary glands, liver, pancreas and gallbladder). This will include also the enteric, sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system that together with the hypothalamic areas of hunger and satiety regulate the function of the entire apparatus.

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
We expect that students will be able to take advantage of the knowledges on the Molecular and Cell Physiology acquired at the 2nd year of the course in Pharmacy to understand the functions of the GI tract and the possible pathologies that derive from its malfunctioning. All the acquisitions will help to identify the drugs and therapies able to improve the functions of the GI apparatus and rescue the damages caused by the various pathologies.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT
We expect the acquisition of aware judgment autonomy concerning evaluation and interpretation of scientific data in order to achieve strategic choices in unknown situations.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
We expect the acquisition of competence to answer to multiple-choice questions and to communicate in written forms the content of the answers to open questions on the all arguments treated in the program.

LEARNING SKILLS
We expect the acquisition of autonomous learning capacity and self-assessment of the own preparation, in order to undertake successive studies with a high degree of autonomy.
